This was written by a local author. It is a mix of Hunger Games and The Giver but not as good as either. I just felt it was missing some character development or it was too predictable or something. It is the first in a series. The next one comes out this year but I'm not holding my breath or anything.
I read this one for book group. Overall a good story. I just kept waiting for something big to happen, but it never did. It was interesting to see the difference in the Japanese culture and the American culture. I like how respectful they were. But I have a hard time understanding how committing suicide was considered honorable.
I also read this one for a book group. Not gonna lie, it was not my favorite. I had a hard time getting through it. 80% of it I found boring and drawn out. There were some good parts and valuable lessons to be learned. But I have not been able to convince my girls to read it even though it is for the youth book club. I know they would have a harder time getting through it then I did.
Loved this book. It was an easy read with a lot of food for thought. I think it gives a good picture of what life would be like if Satan's plan had won. I hear there is a sequel to this and would love to read it.
