Our awesome neighbors, the Ngo's are moving this week. We are sad to see them go. They have been such a great example to our family. They have the best kids who are smart, polite, and ambitious. I asked Erika, the mom, how she raised such great kids and she gave me some very wise advice.
1-They always had dinner together as a family. At dinner her and her husband would bring up important and interesting topics to discuss during dinner. A lot of times they would think up these topics before hand.

2-She read to her children often. They would read classics and books of high quality writing.

3-She provided her kids with creative toys when they were younger.
(Legos, building blocks etc.)
They never used coloring books to color with but used their own imaginations to create the pictures they liked.

4-She limited T.V. and Computer time.

5-They did a lot of interesting things as a family. (Bird watching, museums, etc.)

6-The children learned music.

7-They went on vacations to interesting places and would learn beforehand about those places.

8-During the summer the kids would pick one thing they wanted to become an expert at (sewing, cooking, etc.) and would take classes, read books, etc. all summer on that topic.

9-She would praise her kids for their accomplishments, not their grades.

10-And last but not least, we learned from Tom, the dad, to never give up. After much practice, determination, and bruises he has become an expert unicyclist.
Come rain, shine or snow Tom would ride his unicycle to work almost daily. What an inspiration!!Tom also has an amazing conversion story that was printed in the Ensign. You can read it here.
We love you guys and are really going to miss you!!
