Avignon France

Avignon was one of my favorite places in France.  It is part of Provence.  This little city is surrounded by a medieval wall 
and used to house the Pope at the Pope's Palace.

 It is also home to the famous Avignon Bridge or Pont St. Benezet that was built in the 1100's. There is a famous children's song called "Sur le pont d'Avignon" that's about dancing on the bridge.  The bridge goes over the Rhone river, but part of it was washed away so now it only goes about 2/3 of the way across.

We ate at this little restaurant located right on the Rhone River.  

It served the best Carbanara Pasta ever.

We went to church at a little branch just outside of Avignon.  

There were about 40 members there.  We met some missionaries who were from the States.  One was from Las Vegas and the other from Orem.  They translated the whole meeting for us.  Loved the experience!  We also met a young couple from Provo who were backpacking across Europe.  Crazy thing is a week later we ran into them again in Rome of all places!
